12 Days of Christmas Giving

"The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."—Mother Teresa

I found this saying about a month ago, I instantly feel in love with it. This year I think Bailee is old enough to really understand giving and how we are so lucky to have what we have. JP is still too little to understand but I am hoping he will learn by example from Kurt, Bailee and I. We are starting a new tradition this year we are calling the 12 days of Christmas giving. Starting the 12 days before Christmas we are going to give to others.

Day 1: The kids each picked one toy to give to another kid. Bailee had to think really hard about this one. When she finally walked into the living room with her Disney princess light up toy from our trip to see Disney on Ice I instantly said "that cost a lot of money for that little toy" and she said "Mom I never play with it." Amazing how the look on her face taught me a little lesson of my own quickly I should not question what she choose and then said "you are right it does not matter what we spent on it, it is the fact that you are giving it to someone who will love it." JP on the other hand instantly started crying saying "give my clothes to Creid not my toys." LOL, he hands downs clothes to his cusion quit often as you can tell. I explained it was not going to Creid it was going to another little boy who might not have so many toys. After a little I choose two toys he does not play with and let him make the choice of which one, he happily pointed to a small tool box that makes tons of noise(: and said "give that to a little boy." It was so cute!!

I cant wait to take these toys somewhere and to continue our week of giving. I pray that one day my kids will look back and these be their Christmas memories not the toys we or Santa bought them. I may never know the impact this has on my kids but I pray one day I will see them make a choice and in my heart will think maybe it did.

As I sit here and type this Bailee comes up to me and says "Mom I figured out what my verse means!" I asked "tell me your verse again." THE LORD IS MY SHEPARD I SHALL NOT BE IN WANT. Philippians 12:1, she then tells me "The Shepard came to see Jesus at Christmas and we should not want anything for Christmas because we already have our gift baby Jesus." Yes, this brought a tear to my eyes, love when they my kids show me we are doing things right.

Great Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving day with mine and Kurt's families. We started off going to my aunts beautiful home. We did not have as many people there as we usually do but still had a great time. We missed the ones that were unable to be there to play some minute to win it games! Which if you all know Kurt well at all he does not play games but there is something my aunts have on him I think because he plays all of their games they make us play. LOL! The bad thing is he wins all the time when he plays. I told him I just don't understand how when you do play and you win why you would not want to play more. Anyways, we had a great fun with my Dads family. I love getting to see my Papa and my kids together. I either don't remember or never meet my great grandparents and my kids are blessed to have gotten to spend time with everyone of theirs. I make sure to take plenty of pictures of them together that way if they don't remember them they will know they did meet them and we can tell them the stories of times with them.
After lunch with my family we headed to dinner with Kurt's family at our brother in laws, moms house. It was such a nice day Bailee and JP loved spending most of the day outside playing with cousins. We did not get to see all of his family either but will be able to see his grandparents at Christmas. It has just gotten where both of our families are getting big and everyone has so many obligations it is hard to pick a time when everyone can make it together. Even with missed family from both sides we had a great time and shared some good laughs with everyone.
We have so much to be thankful for this year sadly many of those things we take for granted. I think back to the past two years of school with Bailee and how sick she has been and how excited I am that she has not been so sick this year. Every time she was sick she usually had strep and I was so tired of it all the time. Now this year I celebrate because she has not been sick once(knock on wood!) then I think of many families spending the holidays in hospitals because life threatening illnesses and it gives me a big slap in the face that all she had was strep. This holiday season I am trying very hard to think of the blessings in our lives and to think of those who have way less or more serious illnesses than we have. I complain because we don't have enough money than I see stories on TV of families here in the US showing how they have 1 box of cereal and 1 loaf of bread to last a family of four six days. I think God that our "money problems" are no where near that and need to remember that next time I am bummed I cant buy that new shirt or go out to eat with friends because money is tight. God has blessed us each in our own ways and I am going to try myself to remember that and to teach my kids this Christmas season to remember that we don't know the reasons but God gave us the life he has for some reason and to remember to thank him. This year we are going to do a 12 days of Christmas as a family and use these days to help or serve others. I challenge you to take the time this Christmas season to give or to serve others. Remember that the reason we celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus and what more could God have given us than his own son. We pray you all have a wonderful Christmas season with your families and take the time to remember your blessings.

Busy, Busy, Busy!!

Was thinking I would already have a few more blogs already up but that has not happened. We have been busy since Thanksgiving and feel like we are just know slowing down!!
We had an amazing Christmas w/our little family. The kids enjoyed every second! Bailee was a lamb in our church program this year and had a blast doing it. JP was not excited about Santa at all the 2x's we saw him this year. Needless to say we got some cute pics of him screaming his head off. I love seeing Bailee come to really understand what Christmas is all about. She loved going around town and doing Christmas carols w/the church and giving turkeys away. She thought that was so cool! JP was even sining along w/everyone, of course he was singing his own little songs to his own little tune but it was so cute.
January has been just as busy w/birthdays and Bailee has started basketball. I had a great birthday lunch w/family and friends at Saltgrass Steak house and it was so good. Probably one of the best chicken fried steaks ever!! JP had a blast at his 2nd birhtday party. We borrowed Jerry "The Happy Toy Maker" toys and had some small jumpers and the kids ran around playing. Of course we had a Toy Story birthday party. After Chirstmas and a bday party Toy Story has taken over my house!!!! I am so glad JP has fallen in love with something like he has Toy Story. It is so dang cute the way he get so excited over his toys! Woody and Bullseye of course are at the top of his list w/slinky dog closely following. We have also started the whole potty training thing and it is going way better than I ever imagined. We wear underwear all day at home and have made 2 trips to town wearing them. We do great at home and had one great day in town w/no accidents and 1 not so great day in town. I am just glad he is catching on and doing so well with it.

Bailee is loving basketball and kinda sad her last game is this Sat. It is amazing the difference in game one and game 5. The last few games she has had 2 steals and about 5 rebounds. She is turning into quite the little player. She is still a little shy but I think that will go away the more she plays. She is playing on the Canyon Eagles team and they have won all of their games so far. They sure can play defense!!
Hope to start keeping up w/this thing a little better!! Hope you all had a blessed holiday season!!

Holiday Season

We had a blessed Thanksgiving and are getting ready to celebrate Christmas with our loved ones! We spent an amazing small Thanksgiving with my Papa and my aunt and uncle and their families. It was so much fun. Then I went w/a friend and started black Friday shopping at midnight!! We stayed out until about 9:40 that morning. Came home took a short nap and went back out about 3:00 with Bobbi Jo. So glad I went back out because I think I found the last Jessie doll on the planet Earth!! That was one hot item this year and the only "toy" Bailee asked for. So glad I found her. Of course JP will have his Woody doll to play along with. Cant wait for Christmas morning!!
We have been busy getting ready for the holidays by decorating and practicing for the church Christmas program. Bailee is excited to be a lamb this year. Cant wait to see the kiddos all dressed up. We have also gotten our annual family pictures for the year. At the same time we had Bailee's 6yr old pics taken and JP's 2yr pics taken. I love them!! If you have face book you need to check out Kassies Kaptures she is amazing.
She captured our family so well. I told her when I see Bailee's pictures I want to cry each time. Bailees pictures were a slap in my face that I no longer have a baby girl on my hands. She is turning into such a beautiful girl inside and out and that makes me so sad and happy at the same time. Bitter sweet!!!
Hope you all are enjoying the Christmas season and that you all remember the reason for the season. "And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth." Luke 1:14

Halloween!

We made it through another Halloween. Had a blast w/friends! Bailee dressed as the queen of hearts and JP was a cowboy riding a horse. On Saturday we went w/the White family and went to a traveling zoo in Amarillo, went trick or treating at the Mall and then to trick or treating in Canyon at the fire trucks and cops and got to go in a haunted ambulance. The kids had a blast! Then yesterday we took a trailer and rode around w/the White and Bressler families. Bailee loved being w/friends and trick or treating. The parents have decided this needs to be a tradition because it was so much easier than loading and unloading out of the car. We now 2 bowls of candy and we did not even buy any this year. Now to start getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christams. I love this time of year. Having kids just adds to the joy and fun!

My first blog!

Well, I finally made a blog for our little family! Now that our family is spreading out all over the state of Texas I figured why not. It is a great way for everyone to keep up w/our crazy life. So I hope you all enjoy!

Well, Bailee is loving 1st grade and is doing great. She loves going to school and seeing all of her friends. She is in dance and gymnastics and loves doing both. She is still in love w/all animals and says she is going to be a vet at a zoo oneday. Her new puppy Ryder is the love of her life right now. Bailee is an awesome big sister. She has grown up so much in the last year. Which makes me very sad but proud at the same time.

Mr. JP is as crazy as ever!! He is non stop always on the go and making us laugh. He loves to make people laugh. Which might cause a problem when he gets in school so I am saying sorry now to all of his future teachers!!! He is a mess. He loves his big sister and wants to spend every minute w/her(which she does not always like.) He has no fear which scares me to death but what can I do he is just all boy!

Kurt is liking his new job as a farmer. This was def a God thing. This is something we prayed about and know that we no matter what God is leading us to something great for our family. The kids enjoyed going and riding the tractor w/Daddy this summer. He is learning all kinds of new things and having a blast being out in the open and not stuck inside all day!!

I am still keeping kids at the house and loving it. I love the kids I keep and love their families are amazing. I am also going back to school and liking it this semester. This summer I took a math class and it was hard but I made it through it and proud of the work I did. I am working on a new adventure and praying to have that up and running by January so be on the look out!!! I am so excited about it. Other than that just running the kids around and loving every minute of being a mom. I truly believe that was my calling in life. No matter what job I have ever wanted I always knew I wanted to be a mommy and I love that job more than anything.

We have had lots of October adventures so far and am enjoying the start of a busy holiday season! Thanks for reading our blog and I hope you enjoy! God Bless!!
